Ollin Metzitlalinicue
This Moon dance prayer being held in the North of the Planet will be honoring, respecting and embracing the ancestors and the ancestral wisdom that is part of this land through exchanging and sharing our roots and traditions, awakening the ancestral memory with the purpose of strengthening our own roots and connection with the feminine, awakening more women into their own power of creation and love, and supported by the strength and love of men, honoring each other and bringing balance and growth to life.
The name and the image of this dance “Ollin Metzitlalinicue” are honoring the connection that we all have with all the light in the infinite universe and its stars, in unification with this planet, our Mother Earth and all the light and guidance that we can receive to expand our own consciousness.
At the same time this dance is honoring all the movement that our moon creates in the waters, bringing consciousness to the ways as we relate with our inner waters and outer waters of the planet, and the importance of taking care of the waters in Finland and in the north of the planet, so we can secure the clean-clear waters for our future generations and the deep understanding of it as a sacred source of life.
Also part of the image of this dance is the hummingbird, emerging as the energy of beauty, harmony, sweetness, strength and love that comes from this prayer reflected in our own heart, expanding love, wisdom and compassion.

How it works
The prayer of the Moon Dance its a camping retreat in which we are on nature the whole time and it requires order, structure and different roles. The
roles and teams include the following: dancers, singers, copal bearers (sahumadoras), fire keepers (eagle men), water carriers, wind carriers (atecocolli), cooking team and supporters teams. Every team has a leader guiding and taking care of each team so we can have a harmonious prayer in which we all are together co-creating the circle of prayer, healing, and expansion.

How to be participate:
During the Moon dance there are different roles, being the most common, the Dancers. Please make sure that you meet all the requirements to participate in the role that you want and then register through email at brendaanleu15@gmail.com and send your intention letter directed to Brenda Miquiztli or to the Grandmother Lupita. You will receive the proper information to make the corresponding payment for your donation and to finish your preparation you will receive extra information, and you can join the WhatsApp group in which you can participate in the monthly meetings.
ROLES:
Dancers: All women can participate as dancers from little girls to grandmothers. We ask from you to be in good physical and mental condition (if not let us know as soon as you send a message to register so we can study your case and put you in the proper place during the dance).
As dancers the participants are asked to commit to the Moon Dance Ollin Metzitlalinicue for 4 years dance, as in this way you will finish a cycle of growth and a deeper understanding of this prayer path. Once you complete your 4 years, you will receive your name in the traditional way through the Tonalamatl (check online more information). You can choose to continue dancing or continue with an element.
Elements: Singers on the drum, Sahumadoras and Atecocolli: For this roles, you will need to have experienced the moon dance for at least 4 years before stepping into the elements in order to be in service for other sisters and commit to another 4 years of dance in Ollin Metzitlalinicue to deepen into the beauty of the moon dance, the elements and being in service for others.
Fire Eagle men: Normally we ask for one year of service as supporter before
committing to be a fire eagle man, so you can get to know the work they do and then commit for the next 4 years to be in service connecting with the fire and all the movement that happens during the moon dance. However, as this is the first moon dance in the North, we are inviting all men who feel the call to be in service as fire keepers to reach out and feel welcome. Please just know that you have to commit for 4 years to do the work with the fire. From this amount of time you will receive a lot from the Moon dance and the work with the grandfather fire.
Supporters: Supporters are welcome to participate, making food, and protecting the space, cleaning, etc. As a supporter you get to know the moon dance and receive medicine from it, but without the commitment to be dancing, fasting, sweat lodges, or making all the work that the dancers, elements and fire men are doing. It is common for the family members of the dancers that want to come to support them and witness their process of the dance, as well as people that want to be around the circle of the prayer to get the opportunity to receive the energy that moves during those days. As a supporter people don´t dance at all and they only have one sweatlodge per day with the eagle men.
Donations and Support for people: In México it’s very normal to offer our help to support the spiritual growth of the community and it’s something that comes very natural as we grow up normalizing it because we understand all the work that the participants in different ceremonies are doing. We want to be part of it, even if it’s through just a small donation for food, flowers, herbs, or even big offerings to cover some grandmother travel expenses. From the smallest to the biggest everything is precious and its reciprocity is part of it.
We do honor that in all cases as pilgrimages, Mexica dance ceremonies, viewing ceremonies, sun dances, vision quests etc.
We also offer some support for people that really believe in the power of this work and want to come to the dance circle to receive the healing, but don’t have at all the resources to make it happen.
If you feel called to donate, please just send a message to brendaanleu15@gmail.com
